Invited or not, I’ll stand in front of the Pentagon and pray.

Even if President Obama fails to intervene to allow him to lead a National Day of Prayer event at the Pentagon Thursday, Franklin Graham will still be there— praying for the U.S. military and his own son who is serving in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon had invited the National Day of Prayer Task Force, of which Graham is 2010 honorary chairman, to lead an official prayer service on site, but later rescinded its invitation after various groups protested.

Graham told USA TODAY that when President Obama visited his father, Billy, last month, the younger Graham asked the president to intercede with the Pentagon to restore his invitation. He said Obama replied that he would “look into it.”

Invitation or not, Graham vows to pray for the military tomorrow. He also will be leading prayer at the national observance in the Canon Office Building, and a later event on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

Please Remember America in Your Prayers

Prayer is the most powerful resource we have in this life; yet, many only turn to it as a last resort. When unbelievers pray for repentance of sin and ask for God’s forgiveness, prayer is the spiritual dynamite that obliterates the darkness and despair of a sin-soaked soul.

A Legacy of Revival in the Nation’s Capital

This week as Honorary Chairman of the National Day of Prayer, Franklin Graham could be a part of a legacy of revival in our nation’s capital nearly half a century after his father Billy conducted a revival that gave birth to the idea of the National Day of Prayer.

A National Day of Prayer…Every Day

This morning, and numerous times throughout the day, I spoke directly to the God of this universe—no switchboard, secretaries, call screeners or voicemail. What an amazing thing! Even more amazing, God was waiting on my call and anxious to hear from me and talk to me, no matter how many times I called.

‘No Court Can Stop Us From Praying’

I regret that the Army felt it was necessary to rescind their invitation to the National Day of Prayer Task Force to participate in the Pentagon’s special prayer service. I want to express my strong support for the United States military and all our troops. I will continue to pray that God will give them guidance, wisdom and protection as they serve this great country.

Unite in Prayer for Our Nation

Only one Sunday remains before the National Day of Prayer … “an event under attack like never before,” Graham said. “Please ask your congregations to stand with us as we pray for our president, our leaders, our men and women in the military, and our nation as a whole. We need churches everywhere to stand with us on May 6 as we join in prayer as one nation, under God.”

Franklin Graham: “We Need God’s Help”

As the 2010 Honorary Chairman of this event, he explains why our country needs prayer and how we, as followers of Christ, can help bring healing to our land. “When Shirley Dobson asked me to do this, I was honored. On that day (May 6), we will focus our prayers toward our nation and our nation’s leaders,” said Franklin Graham. “God commands us to pray for those in authority, and the Bible teaches that all authority is given by Him.

‘For Such a Time as This’

The National Day of Prayer was signed into law as a national observance in 1952 by President Harry Truman. Since then, Americans from multiple backgrounds have been overcoming differences to join together and pray for our nation. Franklin Graham has been chosen as the 2010 Honorary Chairman.

This year, as the 59th observance is marked on May 6, Franklin Graham will join Shirley Dobson, National Day of Prayer Chairman, in Washington, D.C. to urge people all over the United States to intercede on behalf of our country.

The mission of the National Day of Prayer is to communicate the need for personal repentance and prayer, mobilizing the Christian community to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church and Family.

“We have lost many of our freedoms in America because we have been asleep,” said Dobson. “I feel if we do not become involved and support the annual National Day of Prayer, we could end up forfeiting this freedom, too.”

On May 6, prayer events will take place all over the United States – at state capitols and county court houses, on the steps of city halls, and in schools, businesses, churches and homes. Those all over the country are urged to pause for a time during that day and gather with others to pray.Prayer for the Nation
By Franklin Graham , 2010 Honorary Chairman

This year’s National Day of Prayer theme verse is Nahum 1:7, which reads, “The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.”

Lord,

We are thankful for the abundant blessings You have bestowed on America. Our forefathers looked to You as Protector, Provider, and the Promise of hope. But we have wandered far from that firm foundation. May we repent for turning our backs on Your faithfulness.

We pray that this great nation will be restored by Your forgiveness. From bondage, You grant freedom. Through Your own sacrifice, You offer salvation. From the state of despair, You offer peace.

From the bounties of Heaven, You have blessed – not because of our goodness – but by Your grace. You have given us freedom to worship You in spirit and in truth as Your holy Word instructs. May our lives honor You in word and deed. May our nation acknowledge that all good things come from the Father above.

President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed that our nation should set apart a day for national prayer to confess our sins and transgressions in sorrow, “yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon… announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.”

“We have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our own hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own… we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God who made us! It behooves us then… to confess our national sins and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”

Help us to pray earnestly for our president and leaders who govern, that they will humble themselves and seek Your guidance so that everything we do will shine the light of Your glory in a darkened world.

May our prayers as a people and a nation be heard and blessed for such a time as this. We make this plea in faith, believing in the mighty name of Jesus our Lord.

Amen

I watched the “National Day of Prayer in America” Session on GOD T.V. and prayed along with the speakers.

It was encouraging to hear God’s message being taken and broadcasted seriously accross the nations of the world.

I pray that “National Day of Pray in America” will continue annually in future years to come. GOD BLESS AMERICA –

    MIKEY WEINSTEIN, JESUS-BASHER

What kind of wine has Mikey Weinstein been drinking?
As an anti-Christian Jewish supremacist and as the president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, he’s doing all he can to create an anti-Jewish backlash and help bring about the predicted endtime Holocaust of Jews that’ll be worse than Hitler’s.
Neither Falwell, Hagee nor any other Christian initiated this prediction. But Weinstein’s ancient Hebrew prophets did.
In the 13th and 14th chapters of his Old Testament book, Zechariah predicted that after Israel’s rebirth ALL nations will eventually be against Israel and that TWO-THIRDS of all Jews will be killed!
Malachi revealed the reasons: “Judah hath dealt treacherously” and “the Lord will cut off the man that doeth this.”
Haven’t evangelicals generally been the best friends of Israel and persons perceived to be Jewish? Then please explain the hate-filled back-stabbing by David Letterman (and Sandra Bernhard, Kathy Griffin, Bill Maher etc.) against followers of Jesus such as Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann.
Weinstein wouldn’t dare assert that citizens on government property don’t have freedom of speech or press freedom or freedom to assemble or to petition the government.
But God-hater Weinstein maliciously wants to eliminate from government property the “free exercise” of religion – especially by evangelicals – a freedom found in the same First Amendment. Significantly, this freedom was purposely listed FIRST by America’s founders!
And Weinstein wouldn’t try to foist “separation of church and state” on strongly-Jewish Israel, but he does try to foist this non-Constitution-mentioned phrase on strongly-Christian America.
In light of Weinstein’s Jewish protectionism and violently anti-Christian obsession, Christians in these endtimes should be reminded of Jesus’ warning in Mark 13:9 (see also Luke 21:12) that “in the synagogues ye shall be beaten.”
Maybe it’s time for some modern Paul Reveres to saddle up and shout “The Yiddish are Coming!”

PS – Some, like Weinstein, are so treacherously anti-Christian they will even join hands at times with enemies, including Muslims, in order to silence evangelicals. It was Weinstein, BTW, who put pressure on the Pentagon to dis-invite Franklin Graham from speaking there on the National Day of Prayer!
PPS – Weinstein is an echo of the anti-Christian, anti-American Hollywood which for a century has dangled every known vice before young people. We seriously wonder how soon the lethal worldwide “flood of filth” (global harming!) that Hollywood has created will engulf and destroy itself and help to bring to power the endtime Antichrist (a.k.a. the Man of Sin and the Wicked One)!
